Our staff provides personal, professional and customized rock climbing instruction and guiding services for all ages and abilities. Chockstone Climbing Guides is comprised of an experienced, professional group of Smith Rock climbing guides that are passionate about rock climbing. They have chosen rock climbing as a profession and have pursued American Mountain Guide Association rock climbing guide and rock climbing instructor training and certification to insure their clients that they are practicing the highest level skills and standards of guiding rock climbing available. Central Oregon is home to Chockstone Climbing Guides and they primarily guide at Smith Rock but every year offer opportunities to guide other equally wonderful climbing areas. Our guides, in addition to being strong rock climbers, are also skilled teachers and coaches and are great instructors for those wanting to learn to lead climb, learn trad climbing skills, and gain confidence with the technical skills to pursue their own climbing in a safe way, climbing skills you can take anywhere. Or for the experienced climber, It can be great to hire a guide to make the most of your day at the crag. Chockstone Climbing guides have been guiding at Smith Rock State Park since 1999 and have been climbing at Smith Rock for even longer. They know Smith Rock State Park intimately and can get you on the classic climbing routes that are best suited for your rock climbing goals.

ROCK CLIMBING COURSES FOR ALL

Chockstone Climbing Guides we’re truly passionate about rock climbing. Smith Rock State Park is our home and we love to share our wonderful climbing area with everyone wanting to explore, climb and have an adventure, no matter what the skill level is. Whether is the first timer or someone wanting to climb classic climbing routes like the Monkey Face, learn to place gear and build climbing anchors, push themselves on a harder route, we are dedicated to providing exceptional service and maintaining the highest level of safety, instruction and success. Our aim is to ignite excitement and enthusiasm in everyone who climbs with us. We offer different types of Smith rock climbing packages to suit the needs and budgets of our clients:

• Private lessons or a guided tour with a qualified rock climbing guide
• Semi Private guiding with a highly experienced rock climbing instructor (2-3 people)
• Group climbing courses (full or half day):

Even in our larger group packages, we maintain a low client-guide ratio. In this way, we are able to ensure a high level of safety and high quality of instruction. This also ensures that the rock climbing instructor is able to give attention to each individual climbers needs and goals to ensure a high success rate. At Chockstone Climbing Guides we want our clients to push themselves and truly enjoy a memorable climbing experience.
